Two weeks, one feature film:
YABADU.

Yvonne Pferrer and Jeremy Grube travelled through South America in a camper for six months and filmed everything themselves, without a sound crew. For their feature film "YABADU: Niemals Erwachsen" we did the sound post-production in two weeks: rescued broken recordings, edited and re-recorded dialogue, foley, sound design, the stereo mix and the Dolby Atmos final mix together with Stefan Heger.

The challenge

Self-shot,
raw sound.

Without a professional sound crew there was a lot of difficult audio: microphone faults, rattling, whole scenes without usable dialogue.

Then there was time. For a full-length feature film there were two weeks to the finished mix.

Our approach

From broken microphone
to cinema sound.

In two weeks, step by step:

Dialogue restoration and editing

Noise removed, frequency gaps closed, recordings reconstructed, without losing the documentary character.

ADR

Where the original sound could not be saved, we re-recorded dialogue.

Foley and atmospheres

Sounds and atmospheres, such as forest and city, that make the scenes audible. Some sounds we recorded in our studios.

Sound design and music

Sound design for the scenes, with the film composer's music embedded so music and sound complement each other.

Stereo mix and Dolby Atmos final mix

We did the stereo mix and handed the stems to Stefan Heger. He created the Atmos pre-mix, and we did the final mix together at toruspost in Cologne.

The result

Number 3
among German films.

On 15 May 2025 YABADU opened in German cinemas, entered the cinema charts at number 3 among German films, in the top 20 of all films, and drew more than 21,000 people to its cinema tour (echo24). Today the film is available on Amazon Prime Video and Blu-ray.
