The Challenge

The iconic sound
in your own living room.

The sound of a Porsche 911 is iconic. It is the acoustic promise of speed, precision, and German engineering. When Porsche AG decided to transform an original rear silencer and twin exhaust tailpipe of the 911 GT3 into a high-end audio system, one thing was immediately clear: when turned on, this product could not sound like an ordinary Bluetooth speaker.

The Porsche 911 Soundbar is far more than just a playback device — it is an exclusive design statement. The central challenge for us as audio branding experts was to create a sonic identity that does justice to this legendary component on every level. Customers in the automotive and high-end consumer goods segments expect a flawless, meticulously crafted, and multi-sensory brand presentation. The specific sound challenge of this project lay in translating the brutal, mechanical power of a genuine Porsche flat-six engine into an elegant, premium, and living-room-compatible sound experience, without losing any of its motorsport authenticity.

Especially for a sound design luxury brand, the right sound is much more than an acoustic add-on — it forms a strong emotional anchor for brand loyalty. Every single tone that sounds when turning the soundbar on, connecting via Bluetooth, or operating it must reflect the premium quality of the brand. We had to develop an acoustic profile that instantly evokes motorsport associations while simultaneously conveying the minimalist elegance of an audio product. The symbiosis of pure adrenaline and luxurious lifestyle was at the heart of our considerations.

Our Creative Process

Motorsport DNA
acoustically transformed.

To authentically transfer the wild, untamed soul of the 911 GT3 into the soundbar, Campera Media chose a highly specialised, iterative approach combining profound technical expertise with emotional sonic branding for sports cars.

01

Acoustic Analysis of the GT3

In the initial phase of the project, we analysed the acoustic signature of the GT3 engine down to the smallest detail. We studied the characteristic frequency responses on the racetrack, the rough, deep growl at low RPMs, and the aggressive, sharp hiss at peak performance.

02

Audio Conception & Sound Design

Our team spent hours isolating the harmonic and disharmonic overtones of the exhaust. From this raw audio material, we developed a bespoke audio concept that turns everyday interactions into an immersive experience. Through highly complex sound design, we transformed the mechanical elements into precise interface sounds.

03

Production of System Sounds

The sounds couldn't simply feel like a basic audio sample; they had to be understood as modern, digital feedback that nevertheless carries the DNA of a combustion engine. The system tones for power on, Bluetooth pairing, and volume control were sonically designed to sound deep, resonant, and unmistakably Porsche.

04

Sonic Branding Implementation

Here, we applied our deep expertise in AVAS sound design. The goal was to create an acoustic user interface that meets the uncompromisingly high standards of a global brand. Every sound was iteratively refined until it achieved the perfect balance of aggressiveness and high-end audio aesthetics.

The result is a cohesive sonic branding that unites the raw power of the racetrack with the subtle elegance of modern technology.

The Result

A goosebump moment
with every interaction.

The final work is a meticulously crafted acoustic brand presentation that perfectly rounds off and emotionally charges the fascination of the Porsche 911 Soundbar. The implemented automotive sound design underscores the luxurious, masculine appeal of the physical product and ensures that every single moment of interaction — from the first button press to the start of audio streaming — evokes palpable goosebumps.

The unique combination of raw, untamed engine power and high-resolution, modern audio aesthetics makes the product experience absolutely unmistakable. The Porsche 911 Soundbar now sounds exactly as it looks: powerful, precise, and uncompromisingly premium. Customers who activate the device in their homes experience a small acoustic adrenaline rush every time, mentally transporting them straight to the pit lane. This best practice example impressively demonstrates why holistic audio branding has become indispensable for positioning in the premium segment today.

"With the sound design for the Porsche 911 Soundbar, we proved that excellent automotive sound design bridges the emotional gap between pure motorsport and a luxurious lifestyle. For us, this project wasn't just about functional system tones, but about the profound feeling of bringing the soul of a true Porsche to life in your own living room."

Questions about Automotive
Sound Design.

The cost of product sound design varies greatly depending on complexity and platform. A simple set of a few interface sounds can be realised from approx. €5,000. Comprehensive automotive projects, involving the complete audio signature for a vehicle or an exclusive product like a soundbar, typically range from €15,000 to €40,000.

In the automotive industry, sound is an essential part of brand identity and the driving experience. A typical project begins with an in-depth analysis of the brand DNA. This is followed by the creative conception phase (sonic briefing). In the production phase, the actual sounds are created, often using physical sound design and digital synthesis. The project concludes with implementation consulting for the hardware.
