Why it matters

Another language, the same impact.

A film only works in another language if the new voice fits character, picture and brand. In dubbing, native speakers deliver the translated script matched to lips and timing. In voice-over, the new language sits on top of the lowered original, as you know it from documentaries.

You need ADR when something did not work on set: wind, noise or a line that changed. The voice talent re-records in the studio with the picture in front of them, and we match the recording to the original sound.

FAQ

Frequently asked
questions.

In dubbing the new language replaces the original and matches the lip movements. In voice-over the original stays faintly audible and the new language sits on top. Voice-over is quicker to produce, dubbing feels more natural.

ADR stands for automated dialogue replacement. Lines that were not recorded cleanly on set, or that changed, are re-recorded in the studio to picture.
