The Animated Launch

When IceCreamUnited (ICU) and Lukas Podolski took the step into the frozen food market, the goal was clear: four iconic ice cream flavors (Vanilla, Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Cookies) in cups that stand out on the supermarket shelf. For this major step, exclusively launched at Aldi Süd, Campera Media handled the complete project in-house. From conception and animation to copywriting and brand voice casting, right through to punchy sound design and the social media mix.

The Challenge

Maximum attention
in the vertical feed.

To successfully place a new frozen product at Aldi Süd (and later other supermarkets), a loud, colorful, and attention-grabbing campaign is required. The target group is primarily active on social media—therefore, the commercial had to be designed as a "vertical video" (9:16 format).

The challenge was to present all four ice cream flavors dynamically and appetizingly within a few seconds. Visual storytelling through animation and acoustic impact through aggressive, urban sound design had to enter into a perfect symbiosis to stop users from scrolling past in their feed.

To stage the ICU brand consistently, Campera Media took over all creative and technical steps of the production:

Storyboarding & Animation

We developed the creative concept and translated it into drawings and storyboards. This resulted in a highly dynamic animation in which the ice cream cups literally fly into the picture. The colors and movements were perfectly matched to the four flavors.

Copywriting & Brand Voice Casting

Campera Media wrote the punchy advertising copy and organized the voice casting. The voice had to perfectly embody the urban, energetic vibe of Lukas Podolski and the IceCreamUnited brand. After the casting, we handled the final voice recording.

Sound Design & Sound Effects

A visually fast animation needs acoustic weight to be effective. We designed custom-fit whooshes, popping impact sounds for the ice cream cups, and dynamic transitions. The sound design literally makes the animation tangible.

Final Social Media Mix

The mix determined the impact: the re-recording mix was specially optimized for smartphone speakers. A loud, densely compressed mix (-14 LUFS) that ensures the speaker, beat, and effects assert themselves even during the autoplay of a noisy feed.

The finished vertical spot impressed with its speed, vibrant colors, and powerful audio. Because Campera Media realized the concept, copy, animation, and sound completely in-house, every cog meshed perfectly. The campaign generated enormous reach on social media and successfully drove the launch at Aldi Süd.
